LASU: 61 Courses Available for 2015/2016 Admission

The management of Lagos State University (LASU) has disclosed that 61 courses are available for candidates participating in the 2015 Post-UTME screening exercise.

This was contained in the the institutions bulletin.

According to the information in the bulletin, some of the courses include biology education, chemistry education, mathematics education and physics, philosophy, transport, political science, sociology, mass communication, marketing, public administration and management technology, among others.

Candidates were advised to visit the university's website www.lasu.edu.ng and print out their Post-UTME slips as the Screening exercise is expected to hold from August 4th to August 14th.

LASU Announces Resumption of Academic Activities

The Lagos state University following a meeting between the state
government, the varsity’s authorities and university unions has
resolved to resume academic activities on on Monday, May 18​,​ 2015.
The meeting also resolved that there should be a proclamation of
confidence in the leadership of Mr. Obafunwa as Vice Chancellor of
the school by the students and unions.

It would be recalled that the institution was shut down last month
following a crisis between the management and the unions in the
institution.

The unions had passed a vote of no confidence on the Vice
Chancellor, John Obafunwa, for accusations ranging from
inappropriate promotion of some staffs, victimization of its members,
withdrawal of certificates of lecturers, abuse of due process and asked
that his appointment be reviewed or reversed.

LASU Suspension of Academic Activities Is Reckless and Irrational - Students Union

Students of the Lagos State University under the aegis of Lagos State University Students Union (LASUSU) in a communiqué made available to newsmen condemned the suspension of academic activities in the institution by the management, saying it is against the wishes of the students and have insisted that students are tired of sitting at home idle.

The statement which was signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Union, Adebanjo Fatai described as “reckless and irrational” the decision of the management not to reopen the school and called on the school management to re-open the school.

Excerpts of the statement reads, “With a saddened and bleeding heart, the students’ union of LASU wholeheartedly condemns the online bulletin released by the university management that the “declared recess is still very much in force”

“We respectfully assert that the online bulletin released by LASU management shows how irrational and reckless the management is towards the reopening of LASU.

“The love of LASUITE is never in the heart of the Management as we can deduce that the management and the State Govt are not ready to reopen the school as they are not forthcoming with regards to the issue of resumption.

“In this light, the Students Union condemns and rejects in totality the online bulletin released by LASU Management that “ the recess is very much in force” as most of our mates in other universities across the country are already graduating while we are still swimming in the pool of recess.”
