FUT Minna Post-UTME/DE 2015: Date, Cut- off Mark, Eligibility And Registration Details


This is to inform all UTME and Direct Entry (DE) candidates who have applied for admission into the Federal University of Technology, Minna for the 2015/2016 academic session that the University has scheduled the University Pre-Admission Screening Exercise (UPASE) to hold at the University Main Campus, Gidan  Kwano, Minna, as follows:

 ii)  UTME Candidates MUST have scored NOT LESS than the indicated minimum scores for various Schools/Courses/Programmes in the 2015 UTME as shown below:

iii)       Candidates MUST meet the minimum UTME scores for their chosen courses, have the right UTME subject combinations as prescribed in the JAMB Brochure and the requisite ‘O’ Level subjects at credit level.

iv)       However, candidates who do not meet any of the above requirements will be allowed to change to any other course whose requirements are met by the candidates.  The change of course will attract a processing fee of N1,000 only payable at the screening venue.

v)        All candidates must possess a minimum of five ‘O’ Level credits including Mathematics and English Language at not more than two sittings in subjects relevant to their proposed courses.

vi)       Only ‘O’ Level result print-outs downloaded directly from the website of the national examining bodies (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB) or photocopies of the original certificate(s) will be accepted for verification.  Candidates that already have their ‘O’ Level results MUST bring the results to the screening venue.  Failure to do so will result in disqualification of candidates.

vii)      Candidates awaiting results will be allowed to participate in the UPASE but MUST submit such results not later than Thursday 15th October, 2015.  For submission of such results, candidates are to go back to their registration page on the University website to update their records or submit hard copies of the results to the Office of the DVC Academic, at the Main Campus, Gidan Kwano.
  
viii)       Candidates that choose to submit their results online should print the acknowledgement slips after uploading.
For the list of relevant subjects for each course/programme, check the homepage of the University website.
NOTE:   Any false declaration could lead to a candidate’s disqualification at any stage of the admission process.
2.         Method of Registration
UTME Candidates
Click on “2015/2016 UPASE”
On the page that appears, click on ‘UPASE-UTME Login’
  
  • Enter your JAMB registration number
  • Enter one of your names
  • Click on ‘Login’
  • On a page that appears, you are required to upload your recent coloured passport photograph in JPG format (Width 150 px, Height 170 px)
  • Choose another course from the list of departments if your UTME/’O’ level subject combinations do not meet the minimum requirements for the course registered with JAMB.
NOTE: The system automatically detects if you have the required UTME subject combination and the minimum score for the programme selected.
  • Status of ‘O’ Level results (click on the appropriate box)
  • Click on ‘Proceed to payment gateway’
  • Confirm your entries
  • Click on the payment page button to proceed to payment gateway
  • Payment is done through Debit Card (MasterCard - Most preferred) or Verve (only the ones enabled for online payment )
  • Enter ATM Debit card details (Card number, expiry date, CVV 2 i.e the 3 digits behind your card, and pin number)
NOTE: This automatically debits N2,250.00 only (the N250 is service charge for the Interswitch platform)
  • If payment is successful, the screen will display all the data you previously entered.
  • Click on the ‘Print’ button to print the document
  • Keep the printout and take it to the UPASE venue
3.      Requirements for the Screening Exercise
All eligible candidates are required to come on the date indicated on their scheduling slips.
Candidates are to report at the Suleiman Kumo Convocation Square at the University Main Campus, Gidan-Kwano along Minna-Bida road with the following:
  • A printout of the 2015/2016 UTME result slip bearing the candidate’s passport photograph (the Passport should not be affixed).  The title of the course/programme of choice should be boldly written by the candidate on top of the result slip.
  • The printed 2015/2016 University Pre-Admission Screening Exercise (UPASE) scheduling slip.
  • A writing material (biro or pencil)
  • A simple scientific calculator (non-programmable) without cover.
4.         General Information
  • No candidate will be allowed to participate in the screening exercise without complying with the above requirements.
  • The Main Campus at Gidan Kwano along Minna-Bida road is about 20 km away from the Bosso Campus of the University, which is inside Minna town.
Candidates without personal vehicles may board commercial buses at the rate of N50 to N70 at the Bosso Campus of the University.
  • Candidates are not allowed to bring GSM handsets or similar electronic gadgets into the screening hall.  Such item(s) will be seized and will not be returned to the owners.
  • Impersonation is a serious offence and anyone caught impersonating will be handed over to the law enforcement agents.
  • Any registered candidate who fails to report for the screening exercise on the date and time specified on the print-out automatically loses his or her chance of being screened for admission.
  • Candidates are advised to arrive at the Suleiman Kumo Convocation Square at the Main Campus, Gidan Kwano on the scheduled dates for the screening exercise at least one hour prior to the scheduled time on their slips.

FUTMINNA 2015/2016 Pre-Degree/IJMB Application Announced


Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the One-year Preliminary Degree/IJMB programmes of the Federal University of Technology, Minna for the 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 academic session. The University runs various Science and Technology based degree programmes in the following Schools: 

(1) Agriculture and Agricultural Technology.
(2) Engineering and Engineering Technology.
(3) Environmental Technology.
(4) Entrepreneurship & Management Technology.
(5) Information & Communication Technology.
(6) Life Sciences.
(7) Physical Sciences.
(8) Science and Technology Education.

Entry Requirements:
To qualify for admission a candidates must have at least five (5) credits including English Language, Mathematics and in any three of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Biology/Agricultural Science/Health Science/Technical Drawing, and Geography at SSCE, GCE O’ Level, NECO and NABTEB.

The results obtained should not be at more than two sittings.

For IJMB programme Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing and Health Science are not acceptable.

Method of Application:
(a) Candidates are to visit (www.futminna.edu.ng) and click on the button with ‘2015/2016 APPLICATION’. Select Choice of Programme (Pre-degree/IJMB) of study.

Enter surname, first name, other names, valid email address and functional GSM number. 

Make sure you enter all information correctly, because your email address will be used to send username and password to you.

You can make modifications at this stage as much as you like before payment. 

Click CREATE application button. 

Proceed to CPES website to complete the online application.

Candidate can sign-in into their email account and continue using the link provided to continue registration or copy the username and password and click on CONTINUE APPLICATION button on the HOME PAGE to proceed with the application.

Important Note: Candidate should also check their SPAM folder in case mail is not found in the mail “inbox”. 

Once the link is opened, copy the username and password assigned to confirm your earlier registration.

After clicking on the sign button, you proceed to payment gateway. 

A payment information page will be generated for you to confirm your previous data entered.

PAYMENT PROCEDURE
Payment FUT Minna College is done through Debit Card (MasterCard – Most preferred) or Verve (only the ones enabled for online payment ). Enter ATM Debit card details (Card number, expiry date, CVV2 i.e. the 3 digits behind your card, and pin number).

This automatically debits N5,000 application fees and N250 for bank commission). On successful payment, you proceed to complete the on-line application. 

Enter all other required information such as:
i) O-level results and number of sittings.
ii) A scanned passport sized photograph (the photograph must be well scanned, less than 100kb and in JPG format).
iii) Scanned copy of all relevant credentials in JPG format not more than 1000kb.
iv) Enter credentials and other relevant information required for the admission.
Click “complete registration” to confirm all entries entered. You can either edit entries entered or submit finally and make printout of the registration form.
Please note that the Centre is not liable to give reasons for rejecting any application, nor will it enter into correspondence on the subject matter with any applicant.

i) Minimum of five (5) O' Level credits to include English, Mathematics, Physics and any two of the following: Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Economics, Geography, Elementary Surveying Agricultural Science/Biology.

ii) BTech/BSc (Surveying) Degree or equivalent of the Federal University of Technology or any other approved University with a minimum of Second Class Honours degree. In addition the PhD candidates having the following qualification from any approved University.

iii) Only staff who are core surveyors are qualified to apply i.e candidates that have their first degree (B.sc or B.Tech) and second degree(M.sc or M.tech) both in surveying and Geoinformatics

iv) MSc/MTech. (Surveying and Geoinformatics) degree with a CGPA of 3.50(average score of B) or above. Are eligible for admission.

f) Department of Urban and Regional Planning.



PhD and MTech Urban and Regional Planning (Full –time only)in the following Options:

Admission Requirements

(i) Bachelor of Tech. Degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower Honours in Urban and Regional Planning from the Federal University of Technology, Minna or first Degree (BSc. or B.Tech) in any of the following areas, Urban and Regional Planning, Estate Management, Architecture, Land Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Building and Geography.

(ii) Holders of Postgraduate Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning at Upper Credit level or holders of Postgraduate Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning with Lower Credit and one year post qualification experience may be admitted.

(iii) Candidates with Third Class in Urban and Regional Planning and a Postgraduate Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning.

(iv) Candidates with Third Class in Urban and Regional Planning with a minimum of three years post qualification experience.

(v) In Addition to (i - iv) above, a minimum of five (5) O'Level Credits in English Language, Mathematics and Geography. The other two subjects must be from Sciences or Social Sciences. (Physics, Chemistry, Agricultural Science/ Biology, Technical Drawing, Economics or Government).

Professional Masters in Disaster Risk Management and Development Studies (Full-time only).

Admission Requirements

(i) Five 'O' Level credits including English and Mathematics and any of Geography, Biology/Agric Science plus any two Science or Social science Subjects.

(ii) Minimum of Second lower division, Bachelor's Degree in Sciences, Social Sciences, Medicine, Agriculture, Forestry, Environmental Sciences and Engineering, Urban planning From recognized Institutions.

(iii) Third class Degree with Postgraduate Diploma in any of the areas listed above and at least 3 years of working experience in relevant fields may be considered.

(iv) Evidence of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge Certificate or exemption letter.)

Admission Requirements

(i) First Degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower in any discipline in Environmental Sciences, Science, Social Science, Agriculture or Engineering; or

(ii) A Postgraduate Diploma in any relevant field for holders of Higher National Diploma in relevant ares with a minimum of Lower Credit.

(iii) In Addition to (i) and (ii) above, a minimum of five (5) O'level Credits in English Language, Mathematics and any other three subjects in either Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Biology/Agricultural Science or Economics at not more than two (2) sittings.



GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

A candidate applying for Postgraduate Studies in the Federal University of Technology, Minna must have obtained five (5) Credits in WAEC, NECO, NABTEB and GCE (O'Level) or their equivalents including English Language and Mathematics at not more than two sittings. No admission shall be made on the basis of any awaiting O/Level or other result with no exemption for admission into any programme.

For avoidance of doubt, candidates with PASS grade at any level of Degree, PGD, HNDandOND do not qualify for admission into any Postgraduate programme of the University.

1. Master Degree Programmes

i. A Minimum of Second Class Honours (Lower Division) degree from Federal University of Technology, Minna or any other recognized University.

ii. A Third Class Honours Degree with at least 3 years graduation experience in relevant fields may be considered. In some areas, passing a qualifying examination to be administered by the Department of the candidates, in consultation with the Postgraduate School, may be required.

iii. Candidates with HND with a minimum of Lower Credit, OND Lower Credit and a Postgraduate Diploma in relevant field with, at least a minimum of Lower Credit and one year graduation experience may be considered.

iv. No Higher National Diploma candidate with CGPA less than 2.50 qualifies for admission into the Master Degree Programmes.

v. Where examination is required as in the case of 1 (ii) and 1 (iii) above, an examination fee of N500.00 will be charged outside the cost of Postgraduate application forms.

vi. In all cases of admission the final decision on qualified candidates rests with the Postgraduate School Board. Candidates with Science-based background are normally considered.

vii. All Master Degree Programmes require course work components in addition to research work components. There is no exemption. A thesis must be defended and submitted for a student to qualify to graduate.



2 PhD programme

i. Candidates for admission for any of the PhD Programme shall be Master Degree graduates of the Federal University of Technology, Minna or any other University recognized by the Senate or holders of equivalent qualifications acceptable to the University Senate.

ii. A Master Degree holder applying for PhD Programme of the University must have maintained a weighted score average of 60% or a 'B' grade or a CGPA of 3.50 out of 5.00 in overall performance in the Master Degree programme.

iii. Appropriate courses may be prescribed for candidates whose background is considered weak for the areas of specialization. This is done at the discretion of the School/Department within the approved general regulations/guidelines of the Postgraduate School.



DURATION OF PROGRAMMES

i Master Degree Programmes

The Master Degree programmes are expected to last a minimum of 3 Semesters for Full-Time Students and 4 Semesters for Part-Time Students. The maximum allowable periods of studies shall be 6 Semesters for Full-Time and 8 Semesters for Part-Time Students, subject to maintaining a CGPA of 2.50 in every semester. Failure to meet this requirement will result in withdrawal from the programme.



ii PhD Programmes

A Minimum of 6 semester (36 months) for Full-Time Students and10 semester (60 months) for Part-Time Students is required. A maximum of10 semester (60 months) and 14 semester (84 months) is allowed for Full-Time and Part-Time Students respectively.



B. POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES

1. School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology

a) Department of Animal Production

i) Postgraduate Diploma Animal Production (Full-time only)

Entry Requirements for Department of Animal Production

i) A Higher National Diploma (HND) in Agriculture from a recognized

Institution with overall aggregate of not less than Lower Credit

(Minimum CGPA of 2.50).

ii) A Bachelor Degree in Agriculture and Allied Discipline such as Vet.

Medicine, Biology, Botany and Zoology with a minimum of a Second Class

(Lower Division) or its equivalent for unclassified Degrees.

iii) Minimum of five (5) Credits at O' level WAEC, NECO, GCE or NABTEB which must include English, Mathematics, Agricultural Science/Biology, Chemistry and any other science subject but at least a pass in Physics is required.



2. School of Engineering and Engineering Technology

a) Department of Agricultural and Bioresources Engineering

Postgraduate DiplomaAgricultural and Bioresources Engineering(Full-time only)

i) Minimum of five (5) Credits at O' level WAEC, NECO, GCE or NABTEB which must include English, Mathematics, Agricultural Science/Biology, Chemistry ,Physics and any other science subject.

b) Department of Chemical Engineering

Postgraduate Diploma Chemical Engineering (Full-time only)

Entry Requirements:

i) A Higher National Diploma (HND) in Chemical Engineering from a

Recognized Polytechnic or any recognized Institution with at least lower

Credit grade.

ii) HND in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical

Engineering or Agricultural Engineering from any recognized

Institution.

iii) BSc or BEng with Third Class in Chemical Engineering.

iv) Minimum of five (5) O' Level credits which must include English, Mathematics, Physics,

Chemistry and any other Science Subject.

c) Department of Civil Engineering

Postgraduate Diploma Civil Engineering (Full-time)

Entry Requirements:

i) Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Lower Credit in

Civil Engineering or Water Resources Engineering.

ii) BEng from a recognized University with a minimum of Third Class.

iii) Minimum of Five (5) O' Level credits as in b(iv) above

d) Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Postgraduate Diploma Electrical and Electronic Engineering in the following area;

Power Systems Engineering

Electronic Engineering

e) Department of Mechanical Engineering

Postgraduate Diploma Mechanical Engineering (Full-time)

Entry Requirements:

i) Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Lower Credit in

Mechanical Engineering.

ii) BEng or equivalent in Mechanical from a recognized University with a minimum of Third Class.

iii) Minimum of Five (5) O' Level credits as in b(iv) above



3. School of Environmental Technology

a) Department of Architecture

PostgraduateDiploma ( PGD) Architecture (Full-time only)

Entry Requirements:

i) Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Lower Credit in Architecture.

ii) BTech Or equivalent in Architecture from a recognized University with a minimum of Third Class.

iii) Minimum of five (5) O' Level credits which must include English,

Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any other Science Subject.

b) Department of Building

PostgraduateDiploma (PGD) Building (Full-time)

Entry Requirements:

ii) Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Lower Credit in Building or related field.

ii) BTech or equivalent in Building from a recognized University with a minimum of Third Class.

iii) Minimum of five (5) O' Level credits which must include English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any other Science Subject.

c) Department of Estate Management and Valuation

PostgraduateDiploma (PGD) EstateManagement (Full-Time Only)

Entry Requirements:

i) A Third Class Degree in Estate Management.

ii) Higher National Diploma (HND) from a recognized Institution with a minimum overall aggregate of not less than a Lower Credit.

iii) BTech/Bsc Degree with not less than Second Class Lower division in related disciples in of the Federal University of Technology.

iv) Minimum of Five O' Level credits to include English, Mathematics Economics, and any of the following Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Technical Drawing and Biology/Agric. Science.

d) Department of Urban and Regional Planning.

PostgraduateDiploma (PGD) Urban and Regional Planning (Full-Time Only)

Entry Requirements:

i) Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Lower Credit in Urban and Regional Planning or related field.

ii) BTech or equivalent in Urban and Regional planning from a recognized University with a minimum of Third Class.

iii) Minimum of Five O' Level credits to include English, Mathematics Economics, and any of the following Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Technical Drawing and Biology/Agric. Science.

e) Department of Quantity Surveying

PostgraduateDiploma (PGD) Quantity Surveying (Full-time only)

Entry Requirements:

i) Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Lower Credit in Quantity Surveying or related field.

ii) BTech or equivalent in Quantity Surveying from a recognized University with a minimum of Third Class.

iii) Minimum of Five O' Level credits to include English, Mathematics Economics, and any of the following Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Technical Drawing and Biology/Agric. Science.



4. SCHOOL OF PHYSICAL SCIENCES

Department of Geography

Postgraduate Diploma Environmental Management (Full-time and Part-time)

Entry Requirements:

i) A Minimum of HND at Lower Credit in any related discipline or First Degree with a minimum of Third Class from any recognized institution.

ii) A minimum of HND at Lower Credit in any related discipline or First Degree with a minimum of Third Class from Environmental/Social Sciences and Engineering background.

iii) Minimum of five (5) O' Level credits including English & Mathematics. Geography, Physics, and any other Science subject.



5 SCHOOL OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION

a) Department of Industrial and Technology Education

Postgraduate Diploma (Full-time only) PGDE in the following areas of specialization:

i) Automobile Technology Education

ii) Building Technology Education

iii) Electrical/Electronics Technology Education

iv) Metalwork Technology Education

v) Woodwork Technology Education

Entry Requirements:

i) A Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of Lower Credit from any recognized Institution.

ii) Full Technological Certificate in Engineering or Technology with a minimum of Lower Credit.

iii) Minimum of five (5) O' Level credits including English, Mathematics Physics, and any other two Science subjects.

b). Department of Library and Information Technology

Entry Requirements:

i) A Minimum of HND at Lower Credit in any related discipline or First Degree with a minimum of Third Class from any recognized institution.

ii) A minimum of HND at Lower Credit in any related discipline or First Degree with a minimum of Third Class from Library and Information Technology.

iii) O' Level credits passes in English, Mathematics, and any other (3) subjects. from(i)Geography,(ii)Physics,(iii)Chemistry(iv)Biology, or Agricultural Science (v)Economics or Accounting or Government are acceptable by the Department

c) Department of Science Education

Postgraduate Diploma Education PGDE (Full-time only)

Entry Requirements:

i) Minimum of Third Class Bachelor's Degree from a recognized Institution.

ii) Minimum of five (5) O' Level credits including English & Mathematics and three other Science subjects.



6. SCHOOL OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY

Department of Computer Science

Postgraduate Diploma Computer Science (Full-time only)

Entry Requirement:

i) BSc or BTech/BEng from any recognised Institution with a minimum of Third Class Degree.

ii) HND in Computer Science from a recognized institution with a minimum of Lower Credit.

iii) Minimum of Five O' Level credits to include English, Mathematics, Physics and any other two relevant science subjects.



7. SCHOOL OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY

Department of Entrepreneurship and Business Management Technology

Postgraduate Diploma Business Management Technology (Full-time only)

Entry Requirement:

i) Higher National Diploma (HND) in related field from a any recognized Polytechnic or any recognized institution with a minimum of Lower Credit.

ii) BSc, BTech or BEng with a minimum of Third Class in any relevant field.

iii) Minimum of Five O' Level credits to include Mathematics, English, Economics, and any other two science or social science subjects.

8. Centre for Disaster Risk Management & Development Studies

Postgraduate Diploma Disaster Risk Management and Development Studies (full-time only)

Entry Requirements:

i) Minimum of Third Class Bachelor's Degree in Sciences, Engineering, and Environmental Sciences from recognized institutions.

ii) Minimum of Lower Credit in Higher National Diploma (HND).

iii) Minimum of Five 'O' Level credits including English, Mathematics and any of Geography, Biology/Agric Science plus any two science or social science subjects.

9. Centre for Human Settlements and Urban Development.

i) Postgraduate Diploma Public- private Partnership in Urban Environment (Full-time only).

ii) Postgraduate Diploma Local Economic Development

Entry Requirements:

i) A Minimum of HND at Lower Credit in any related discipline or First Degree with a minimum of Third Class from Environmental/Social Sciences and Engineering background.

ii) Minimum of five (5) O' Level credits passes including English & Mathematics plus any other relevant subjects.



DURATION OF STUDIES IN POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES

Generally, Full-time Students are expected to graduate normally after 3 Semesters while those on Part-time will graduate after four 4 Semesters of successful completion of their programmes, subject to maintaining a minimum CGPA of 1.50 in any semester.



METHOD OF APPLICATION

1. All applications for Postgraduate programmes are online through the University website; www.futminna.edu.ng

2. All applications will be accessible as from 16th July, 2015

3. All requested information on the online application must be correct and accurately provided with current email addresses and phone numbers.

4. Completed application forms must be submitted online through the University portal latest on 20th September, 2015. All necessary instructions on filling the form must be adhered to and failure to do so is sufficient grounds to disqualify an applicant.

5. Completed application forms must be printed out as they would be requested during registration, on successful admission.

6. All PhD Applicants must upload their research proposal of interest and ensure that their official transcripts are forwarded to;

7. It is the responsibility of each candidate to ensure that the online referee reports are duly filled and submitted by the respective referees before the closing date. (Minimum of two (2) referees) must be submitted.

8. All certificates must be uploaded in their original form and in colour.



APPLICATION FORMS

University charges an application fee of N10,000.00 naira plus N250.00 naira interswitch charge making a total of N10,250.00 naira payable online via the interswitch platform with the use of master or verve card through the School portal.



PAYMENT OF FEES AND THE PROCEDURES

All successful applicants offered provisional admission must undergo the following registration formalities (payment of fees, registration and screening) shall be completed within a pronounced date beyond which there shall be a penalty of late registration.
