Introduction
Centre for Technical Vocational Education, Training and Research (CETVETAR), University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State, Nigeria is a Centre approved by the University of Nigeria Senate. It is made of two Departments namely Vocational Teacher Education and Fine and Applied Arts, which were established in 1963 and 1961 respectively.
The Department of Vocational Teacher Education presently is made of five sections namely:
i. Agricultural Education
ii. Business Education
iii. Computer Education
iv. Home Economics Education
v. Industrial Technical Education
Each of these sections has a Co-ordinator who is directly under the Head of Department.
The Department of Fine and Applied Arts also has five sections namely:
i. Ceramics
ii. Graphics
iii. Painting
iv. Sculpture
v. Textile and Fashion
CETVETAR is a World Bank assisted Centre of Excellence in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and also a UNESCO – UNEVOC Centre in Nigeria. It has also benefited from Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and the African Development Bank (ADB) TVET facility improvement scheme in Nigeria.

OBJECTIVES
CETVETAR Objectives are to:
· Conduct training /retraining programmes in different areas of TVET for youths, retirees, women and disadvantaged groups for skill empowerment and poverty reduction.
· Provide consultancy services to local, national and international agencies on best practices in informal, non-formal and formal TVET.
· Carryout advocacy/sensitization programmes on different issues and providing policy direction on life-long TVET.
· Develop customized and individualized programmes for small/medium scale enterprises for optimal performance, quality assurance and global focus.
· Networking and disseminating information on TVET to policy makers, teacher educators, academics, private and public sectors practitioners.
· Collaboration with other agencies, centres and organization with similar objectives on human capital development entrepreneurship, poverty reduction and skill empowerment.

MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE OF CETVETAR
CETVETAR is a semi-autonomous organization established by the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. There are three decision-making bodies for the centre namely: University Governing Council, University Management/Administration and management committee.
The Governing Council is headed by in the Chairman of Council/Pro Chancellor; the University Management/Administration is headed by the Vice-Chancellor, while the Centre Management Committee is headed by the Director who is charged with the daily execution of the centre’s activities. The Director reports to the Vice Chancellor.

CETVETAR STAFF
There are two Categories of staff of the centre namely: Core staff and Casual staff. The core members of staff are the regular staff of the two departments employed by the University. The centre only pays core staff members who participated in executing contract/project attracted by the centre. The centre can also make use of staff from other Departments of the University who have relevant skills for the execution of contracts/projects. The casual staff of the centre are recruited by the centre based on needs and availability of fund.
